Maintaining healthy employee relations is very vital for the success of any organization. In many organizations it is unclear what employees want from their Manager.

Not having a clear understanding of what employees expect causes many problems including, low turnover, low productivity, bad conduct and overall poor job satisfaction. Here's how to invest in people for better connections within your company, the Channels that connects the Employee and the Manager are as follows:

Trust: It is the most important factor that connects the Employee and the Manager.

Guidance & Support: Managers here has to act like a mentor rather than a boss. Direct information and experiences from a Mentor builds a degree of confidence through guidance, assistance and support.

Walk the Talk: In Simple words, "Lead by Example".

Approachable: Managers who are not approachable will have more and bigger problems than those who are approachable. Manager's need to plan for a face-to-face interaction with each person in the organization at least once per month. If it is a smaller organization, it can be a frequent interaction.

Unbiased treatment: The golden rule when you are fair, you treat others as you wish they would treat you.

Feedback: The Key is "listen to employee" Manager's must acknowledge employee issues and be motivated to make improvements. The Harvard Business Review recently had an article called ‘The Human Moment,’ about how to make real contact with a person at work: … The fundamental thing you have to do is turn off your BlackBerry, close your laptop, end your daydream and pay full attention to the person.”

Recognition & Appreciation: I have seen people when appreciated for their work; they go the Extra Mile to deliver beyond the expectation.

Empowerment: Most Successful managers are willing to exercise their leadership in such a way that their people are empowered to make decisions, share information, and Innovate. Most employee feel motivated when they are empowered and are willing to take on the responsibilities that come with it.

Healthy employee relations with the managers lead to more efficient, motivated and productive employees which further lead to increase in sales level. Please send if you have any more ideas would love to hear them.
